Level I:

Training

Become certified in

Seeing the Invisible: Systems Awareness.

Sign up for the Mobius mailing list to find out when the next training dates are announced.

The Level I training certifies facilitators to lead Seeing the Invisible: Systems Awareness, the robust introductory workshop of Mobius’ Seeing the Invisible workshop series. The Level I certification program will train you to see and make clear for others the invisible patterns that can either help or hinder a group’s potential. As a certified facilitator, you will be able to implement this powerful and versatile workshop to set the conditions for individuals and teams of any kind to thrive.

Level I certification begins with a two-day on-site intensive training, and is followed by four months of group and one-to-one check-in calls, leading up to certification. An extended timeline can be found below. The cost of Level I certification is $2,000.

Following successful certification, your Level I annual membership dues ($250/year) include access to a robust suite of updated marketing tools and materials to support you in bringing this workshop to others. You will also be featured on our website in our Certified Facilitator Directory, and when we get a request for a workshop in your area, we’ll pass that request along to you.

Level II:

Apprenticeship

Become certified in…

Seeing the Invisible Complete Series

→ The full suite of Mobius Method Building Blocks

→ Custom Engagement Design & Facilitation

The Level II apprenticeship program certifies facilitators to lead the complete Mobius’ Seeing the Invisible workshop series, as well as utilize the full suite of Mobius Method building blocks to design meaningful and transformative custom engagements. Apprentices learn the vast number of ways to combine a carefully-curated set of movement “interactivities”, systems thinking concepts, mental models and reflective practices. Level II trainees also learn to employ the method as a means of achieving a variety of different goals. This apprenticeship program involves a complete immersion in custom design and facilitation, supporting trainees in developing the capacity to diagnose what is most needed for a particular group or gathering, and design a transformative engagement that fulfills those needs.

Level II certification is available by application only to those who have successfully completed the Level I program. As certification in this area is more nuanced, the timeline will vary for each individual seeking certification. We can offer recommendations on places to stay nearby, however, the cost of transportation, accommodation, and travel is the responsibility of the participant.

Do you offer financial assistance?

One or two reduced-fee spots are available for each training cycle for community organizers who will not use this as an income source. If you are a volunteer community organizer, please inquire to see if you meet our requirements for our limited number of reduced-fee spots.

In special cases (and only with pre-authorization), it may be possible to fund your participation by paying in installments. Please inquire if you would like to learn more.

Otherwise, we encourage you to invite your communities to contribute to your participation in this professional development training.

Is the training fee refundable?

The training fee is 75% refundable up to the registration deadline (two weeks prior to the start of the program). After the registration deadline has passed, we are unable to offer refunds.

Do I automatically become certified if I attend the training?

No – registering for and attending the training does not guarantee certification.

Convening and facilitating groups is a complex practice that requires many different kinds of skills: a strong facilitator cannot only be knowledgable about the material, or only adept at making groups feel comfortable. Skilled facilitation requires a high level of competency across many different areas.

For this reason, we have developed a rigorous training and evaluation process intended to ensure that Mobius certified facilitators are qualified to deliver meaningful and positive experiences.

How will I be evaluated for certification?

To successfully obtain certification, each participant will be required to conduct a free pilot workshop within their community, submitting relevant film and documentation (including evaluation surveys from participants) by the end of the certification period.

Each participant will then be evaluated against a robust certification rubric (made available at the beginning of the program) and must meet the minimum score threshold in order to become certified.

What happens if I don't pass the certification evaluation?

In the event that certification is not obtained on the first attempt, additional coaching and evaluation opportunities will be available for a fee.

What are the pre-requisites for attending the training?

We recommend a basic familiarity with leading groups or teams (this can look a lot of different ways: community organizer, educator, facilitator, etc.). While the training includes a module on facilitation, it is designed specifically for participants with prior experience leading groups.

What is the time commitment for certification?

For more on the timing of the different phases of certification, see the timeline.

Phase 2: Training. Two and a half days on site for in-person training (must be present for the full duration of the program in order to be eligible for certification).
